ITINERARY

We’re still figuring out the details, but here are the basics:

Day 1) LISBON
Meet late afternoon for a short orientation walk around Lisbon and then have drinks and dinner together. We can arrange extra days in Lisbon for anyone who hasn’t been and wants to explore more. There’s a lot to see! Stay the night at the first of three historic hotels that are part of the “pousada” registry.

Days 2 & 3) SAGRES
Transfer south and explore the wild western part of the Algarve with a hike along the coast and a fun e-bike ride. We stay two nights in a historic pousada with a pool and views out over the sea.

Days 4-5) LAGOS
Kayak and hike along the dramatic coastline, with its colorfully striped pinnacles of limestone that form caves and grottoes between stretches of white sand beaches. Relax at your hotel in the afternoon and enjoy the peaceful garden and pool, or walk down to the beach for a swim. Walk around the lively historic center of Lagos at night and try the local seafood specialties. We also have a wine tasting lunch at a local winery.

Days 6 & 7) TAVIRA
Head east again to the charming town of Tavira, which sits on a series of lagoons that lead to tranquil islands. Meet local fishermen who show you their traditions and then treat you to lunch, and swim in the translucent waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 8) DEPARTURES from FARO
Faro has an international airport as well as a train station. It’s also a cute town if you want to extend a day or two!

This was an amazing trip! Claire has this trip so well organized that you just get to enjoy the adventure, learn some history of Portugal, indulge in the foods, and meet wonderful new friends. This trip included hiking, biking and kayaking thru the caves of Algarve. A very special lunch at a winery. Beautiful boutique hotels. Lisbon is a beautiful city to explore and the Algarve hikes, beaches, water were magic for the soul. This trip exceeded my expectations and most of that was due to Claire’s attention to the details and her knowledge of combining a multi sport adventure that was fun, interesting and full of beautiful sights and delicious foods. It was a great way to experience Portugal and made me fall in love with the country. Can’t wait to travel again with Wild Sage!!!!

From the dramatic, sun-drenched coastline to the vibrant streets of Lisbon, every day was packed with new adventures, breathtaking sights, and unforgettable flavors! The activities were perfectly paced and wonderfully diverse. We spent our days hiking along gorgeous coastal trails with stunning cliffside views, kayaking into hidden sea caves with crystal-clear water, and cruising through charming villages on e-bikes. The scenery was consistently spectacular, and the coastal hikes were manageable and immensely rewarding, offering incredible ocean vistas at every turn. Beyond the outdoor adventures, the cultural and culinary experiences were a true highlight. We enjoyed a fascinating visit to a local winery, savoring the region’s unique varietals. Every meal was a delight, filled with fresh seafood and authentic Portuguese dishes that we’re still dreaming about. Our day trip to Lisbon provided a perfect taste of the city’s rich history and lively atmosphere. What truly made this trip exceptional, however, were our guides. Their knowledge, passion, and sense of fun were infectious. A special shout-out to our dear friend and guide, Claire — celebrating our 17th European tour with her was an absolute joy! Her expertise and wonderful personality continue to make every journey a remarkable one. For anyone looking for an active, beautiful, and delicious adventure, we can’t recommend this trip enough!
